Gone Barnet Democracy – Enter Crapitaville

As many of you know, the One Barnet programme of privatisation was unlawfully pushed through by the council. The two massive contracts, together worth over £1 billion, were recently signed, and Capita formally takes over 70% of our public services on 1 September. From then on we shall be known as Capitaville and that also means the death of our local democracy.

To mourn our democracy and to show Capita that they are not welcome here, we are holding a funeral procession on Saturday, 31 August.

Please join us in solidarity and tell all your friends and family to come along. If you can, come by car to join the convoy. Please wear black, bring some flowers with you to say farewell to Our Democracy, and, if you like, bring a poem or a song too.

Where: Meeting at the car park of Sainsbury’s Golders Green (Finchley Road, across the road from Golders Green bus/tube station). The procession will go north along Finchley Road, Regents Park Road, Ballards Lane and High Road, until it reaches The Spires in High Barnet. Watch this space for assembly points along the route.

When: Saturday, 31 August, 11 am
