    Dear students

I left uni 10 years ago and fully appreciate your anger at having to pay more. I credit you all with a lot of intelligence and hopefully passion for the future of this country so please consider these thoughts.

Including all the off balance sheet PFI numbers and bank liabilities our national debt stands at 2.3 Trillion pounds.

Stripped out PFI and bank liabilities due back, it stands at £900 billion of which we are adding £150bn to it every year. Now even the most stupid of you can see this isn’t a sustainable situation.

So why are you complaining about the cuts which merely aim to bring us to a point where we stop adding to the debt.

You have valid complaints on tax avoidance but this doesn’t solve things entirely we must reduce spend responsibly and you mus shoulder your burden with the rest of the country !

So when you go out to protest, be sure exactly what you are protesting about and whether it is for the good of the country or borne of selfish personal motives?

    Food for thought…

add to that the hundreds of billions of pounds spent on war to sustain geopolitical control over oil producing regions to feed our futile addiction to post peak oil consumption? If the torys were honest in the rhetoric behind the cuts they would deal with this and the tax avoidance, bank regulation, bankers bonus et al first before cutting the public sector. the student movement clearly see the deeply ideological move to privatize the state and continued obsession with free market capitalism. the current government has broken numerous manifesto promises all this with no clear mandate and on the back of a tired and weak argument that it was labours fault (and i’m no fan of tony blairs new labour either). Our current global economic model is based on a debt fueled system and no cutting of the state will change the nature of unregulated banking that corruptly controls every aspect of our lives while producing huge profits for the elite few. with the trillions saved from warmongering, tax avoidance and the numerous banking issues we could invest in a green economy and in the process create a new industrial base that creates jobs and lessens our dependency on an ever depleting oil resource. short term solutions create long term problems. we must continue to financially support more progressive social ideas such as education, the nhs, a welfare state and local government funding for community institutions and projects…. any profit based mechanisms that underpin our society are doomed to failure and social misery. without radical ideas and revolutionary action we face a bleak and regressive future. the students are leading the way… no wonder the tories are dismantling our education system…. education for rational, critical, objective, intellectual, creative and philosophical thought will become a privilege for the rich.. when you talk about the good of the country who’s country do you mean… the ruling political and financial elite?
now I don’t think any of that is selfish personal motives?
