Save NW London’s hospitals – march to Charing Cross hospital

A few weeks ago 5000 marched in Ealing and others took action in Brent, South London and at St Heliers. The London KONP meeting agreed to ask everyone in London to back this demonstration. At least nine A&E departments and hospitals are threatened with closure across the city.

The demonstration called by the TUC looks set to be even bigger than the half a million that marched on 26 March 2011.

We need to make sure that the march is massive, that the attacks on the NHS are highlighted and that we argue for it to be a springboard for bigger and more determined action.

 

Most local areas have public memetings and events organised and we can make sure the NHS has a high profile. It is a great opportunity to make contacts with local health workers since all the trade unions are mobilising for the demonstration.

KEEP OUR NHS PUBLIC CONTINGENT ON THE MARCH

Whilst some may chose to march with their union or local area, KONP will organise a contingent to meet up before the demonstration to march work with UK Uncut to have as big an impact as possible

KEEPING UP THE PRESSURE LOCALLY

Many local groups have met with their Clinical Commissioning Groups and PCT clusters to ask them to back the pledge not to bring private companies into the local NHS. This has been most successful when it has been combined with public campaigning and petitioning.

 

38 Degrees has produced a pledge where you can contact your local GPs on line by inserting your postcode.

It is a less stringent pledge, but one that they believe should stand up to legal challenge.

EMERGENCY PHONE TREE

It was agreed to ask each local Keep Our NHS Public group to send us at least 2 phone numbers that could be contacted if there is action organised at short notice who could then let others in your area know.
