Around 50 students from the University of Bradford in conjunction with the Student Union are staging a peaceful protest and have occupied the Management Offices.
They have taken action to stand against the Government Cuts in Education Funding and subsequent rise in Higher Education tuition fees. They are demanding that Mark Cleary, Vice Chancellor of the University of Bradford, release an official statement publicly condemning the government’s proposed rise in the cap of tuition fees and the cuts in Higher Education funding.
The action took place after the students met with the Vice Chancellor on Monday when he stated he had not signed anything supporting the rise of the tuition fee cap, but also had not formally released any objection to it.
The students in Bradford will be organizing actions and protests in the University and city throughout the week and are encouraging both the faculty and local community to participate. The actions are part of a wider national movement of students who will be mobilising to convince MP’s to vote against the cuts and rise in tuition fees on Thursday.
