‘The cleaners at John Lewis, Oxford Street are in dispute with the contractor Integrated Cleaning Management. They are demanding the London Living Wage, Union recognition and no cuts in jobs and hours.
Nearly 100% of the cleaners are members of the IWW union but ICM refuse union recognition or to respond to complaints.
John Lewis has been hailed as the model for the whole economy the treatment of cleaners tells a different story. John Lewis has threatened our union us with legal action if the cleaners call a protest.
The cleaners branch has called a protest with their families on Saturday 23 June, 3:00 pm at John Lewis Oxford Street. We are considering a ballot for industrial action also. ‘
