Ealing builds support for O20

October 3, 2012

Ealing Trades Union Council has organised a public meeting to build support for the huge National TUC Demonstration in Central London on October 20th.

Oliver New, Chair of Ealing TUC, who also recently chaired the huge rally on Ealing Common to defend hospitals, said “the plans to close A & E Departments are finance driven , but they also link in with national government plans to privatise many health services. The welfare state which we were brought up with is being disastrously undermined with these cuts to hospitals, schools and benefits. It will all massively widen the gap between rich and poor”

Ealing Trades Council has been a big participant in the ongoing community campaign to defend Ealing hospitals and has organised weekly street stalls in Acton, Ealing, West Ealing and Southall, which have distributed 30,000 leaflets and collected over 10,000 petitions in support of local A&Es adding to those collected by local community and religious and political organisations.

The Public Meeting will take place on Tuesday October 9th at 7.30pm in Ealing Town Hall.

The speakers will be Dr Louise Irving from the BMA Council (Personal Capacity). Dr Irving will explain the nightmare programme of cuts, closures and privatisation facing the National Health Service

Nick Grant from the NUT National Executive and Ealing NUT, will talk about the systematic undermining of our schools and comprehensive education

Mick Brooks is a local campaigning author and Economist. Mick will talk about the alternatives to the Governments policy of austerity and cuts

The meeting will be chaired by Eve Turner, Secretary of Ealing TUC.

Note to editors: Ealing TUC brings together local trade union branches and is the local body for national TUC. Along with Brent and Harrow TUC, it first commissioned a report from Dr John Lister on the local A&E closures.

Real Reality is More Important than their Idiotic Virtual Reality.

It Makes Myself Angry and Sick how Ignorant and Thick People are to so Sheepishly and Slavishly Accept all the Rubbish from this Con Dem Regime of Rubbish.

People are just Fiddling About when they should be out Demonstrating.
