Student protests were vital in launching the resistance to cuts
A message to all Coalition of Resistance students and supporters from University of London president Clare Solomon
Monday 11-Thursday 14 is the National Union of Students conference in Newcastle. Students have shown a great interest in Coalition of Resistance and we would like to meet up with as many of you as possible next week. CoR needs to organise nationwide coordination and your help is much appreciated.
NUS conference is a delegate conference, ie you have to be elected to go inside the actual debating hall but non-delegates are welcome to attend the fringe meetings and to help in many different ways.
So, if you are going as a delegate, please let me know what time you are arriving. Call or text me on 07850 177 637
If you live in or near Newcastle and would like to come and help your time will be greatly rewarded by being at the extraordinary NUS conference especially this year with all the post-demo debates/arguments!
We have a arranged a few specific meet ups but the conference is arranged in such a way that your help and participation is needed at all times so just pop in whenever you can.
Here’s the agenda which is always subject to change:

Here are a number of planned meet up points:

The Quayside Spoons
35 – 37 The Close (The Quayside)
Newcastle
Monday 8pm
2) Tuesday 10.15 at the front of the Sage Conference Centre.
We will be visiting the nearby Newcastle College picket lines and 11am rally and then going back to conference
Here are a few of the fringes we will be going to which you as non-delegates are welcome to come to and we will leaflet at:
3) Tuesday 3.30. Meet outside the ‘Voices From The Movement’ fringe in room MEC 9
4) Tuesday 5.45pm. Meet outside the Stop Islamophobia and the BNP mtg also in MEC 9
5) Wednesday 12.45 outside the Stop The War/CND/PSC mtg on Libya and Imperialism mtg in MEC 9
6) Wednesday 8pm outside Hall2 for the Laurie Penny/Aaron Porter debate.
Naturally we will also be going drinking each evening which again you are welcome to!
A lot of these things we will play by ear so keep that in mind when you arrive. If you can’t see us please just muck in wherever you can.
Text either DELEGATE or HELPER (so I put you in different text groups) to 07850 177 637 for text updates through conference.
Please come to help on any of the stalls that have CoR stuff on at any times you can. We have bulletin, Tshirts, lollipop placards & badges to give away and we’ll be doing collections for students defence campaigns.
We also have a number of good people standing in elections so we could help with their campaigns where possible.
If you have any of the bulletins or badges please bring with you because we’re running low
Right, is that all? I think so but do text me on 07850 177 637 if you can think of anything else or if this is unclear.
See you in Newcastle.
Clare Solomon
